LEADERSHIP

Leadership is not a talent, it is a quality which you have to nurture and develop in yourself. It has some characteristics which collectively make this a great quality for getting ahead in your life. 

A real leader never demands for his own importance and privileges. He seeks learning, irrespective of the positions and portfolios, from anywhere and anytime he can. He wants to learn things because he is not afraid to take initiative for the betterment of the organisation or business in which he has been working. Why is he not afraid of taking initiative voluntarily because he believes in sharing things with his men, weather it is knowledge, success, failures or any other thing which makes him learn more and more. By doing that he gains prudence and become a man with great leadership qualities with great achievements and experiences.  

Being responsible for the tasks is also one of the characteristics of leadership. A leader never hesitates to take responsibilities of the task he has been given. There are many people who hold a good position but they always fail in taking a stand for the men working under him because of the fear that they may not be promoted to the higher positions. This fear puts them one step down in the quality of leadership. They, no doubt, can go to higher positions, but they can not become good leaders and earn respect of their men.  

Since, leaders are the one whose decisions matter a lot in the development of any organisation, they need to be able to take decisions accurately. And this can happen only when they stay mentally and physically fit. Being fit, both mentally and physically, helps them to stay positive and confident, which again helps them to calmly analyse the situations and take right decisions at right time and place. Taking right decisions further enhances their capability of choosing and eradicating ideas which have importance and unimportance respectively. So doing exercise and meditation at regular basis is also a characteristics of leadership. 

It does not matter how knowledgeable and intellectual a leader is, he always stays down to earth and works on ground assuming sky is the limit. The desire of learning makes a man both knowledgeable and down to earth. Once a man become so, he never leaves his men behind and walk alone in the field. Since, he works with his fellows, he knows everything about them, their weaknesses and strengths, which can help him to utilise the man at right place and time according to the man’s qualities.

No success has ever achieved without taking risks which is again a quality of a good leader. He can take risks and face every downfall fearlessly because he understands the importance of the unity of his group which helps him stay calm in every situation. And staying calm is what a man needs in order to grow more and achieve what he wants.
