WAYS TO MEDITATE

It is been thousands of years since meditation has been practiced in various cultures and traditions. Due to the diversities on the Earth, meditation has developed in many ways and each type has its own unique benefits. However, the type of meditation does not matter much because all types, irrespectively, are very strong tool to improve your mental, physical and emotional well being. But still we need to know the different types, not theoretically but practically, as each and every person has his own routines and plans. Though, the great people like Buddha have developed meditation in various forms, but we will try to know the ways which are linked to our routine activities.

1. Reading books

When you read books, your mind stops having unnecessary thoughts, which are almost always negative and lead you to unfavourable results. This is done by your unconscious mind, which always wants to work without your permission. Reading makes your conscious mind awake and fully concentrated on the present, which then keeps your unconscious mind away and stops it from thinking unusable thoughts. You are totally present in the moment, which helps you enhancing your spiritual energy to keep you cognitive balanced in every situation.

2. Being present

Weather you repeat mantras, sleep consciously, guided by someone to peaceful environment in your mind, focus on only one thing around you, concentrate on the chakra points or intense control on your breathing, you live in the now. The meaning of meditation is itself living in the present and staying away from past and future’s incidents and unrealistic imaginations respectively. The past incidents stimulate your mind to think relatively and apply this to your behaviour, which is not you but your mind, but eventually becomes you. When you value the time, which is now, you stop being the slave of your mind and there will be tremendous changes in your behaviour. Thinking a lot of things is not intelligent, rather stop thinking and awakening the consciousness towards the present time is what that is required.

3. Playing

Sports, indoor or outdoor, is also a kind of meditation as it also allows you to stay in the present and focusing on the game. Not only game, but any other physical activity like running and gym also provide you a great opportunity to be conscious and present in the moment. It then keeps you away from negative thoughts that get generated in the mind even when you do not want to. Playing a game, running or gym require not only your physical presence but also your mental existence, because if not then you can not perform well. The mental and physical energy gets combined and work together to perform these activities, so doing something physically really helps you stay focused and enhances your alertness in your profession too.

4. Love and joy

Love, joy and happiness are emotions like anger, sorrow, jealousy and hate, but these are different from the later ones. The love emotions are felt when you are full conscious but emotions like anger are felt and created by your unconscious mind, which you can not control and allows your body to react which always lead to bad situations. Weather your joy is temporary or permanent, you can only feel that if you are truly conscious and present in the moment. You can control yourself at this time as you are not having any other thoughts apart from the present moment. That is why it is said that you feel nothing in love, you are just in love without any reason. You are totally there to feel it with your consciousness.

Apart from these activities, meditation can also be practised while you walk, drive or climb stairs by observing very little things that come in front you. Establishing your focus on your steps or counting the stairs is one of these little things, which help you in strengthening your cognitive balance and boost your alertness in the now.

Meditate and free yourself from pain.
