HOW TO BE CALM

You may not be able to control everything that happens to you, but you can control the way you react. Every day you go through various situations and people and therefore it becomes very usual for you to get irritated and respond in a wrong way. You do not have control at that instant, but you definitely have some time to think about what you have to say and what to not.

Sometimes our experience is not enough in teaching us new things. Because different people have different sufferings and atmosphere around them, which becomes the major cause of creating the difference between your experience and people’s experience. And, this is why Swami Vivekananda once said that either you learn from others mistakes or your life would be short to learn them yourself. So, other’s experience also provides you prudence. The ways you can learn from others life are very simple and easy to access. You can sit next to the person himself and listen to his stories and experiences of his life. This will let you know that how you are different and how you are associated with that person in different aspects. Also, you can refer books written by such intelligent and knowledgeable people who have seen things that you might have not. And, you can watch them on stage giving motivational speeches in front of audience. Apart from these ways there are many more which you can figure out yourself.

One more thing that you can try to understand in order to avoid arguments and be calm is that you face two types of people. One is inferior or younger to you and other is superior or elder. Your inferior have lesser experience than you, so you can understand his behaviour because you have been there and suffered the same. This will automatically change your reaction towards him and help you in staying calm. And, your superior has more experience than you, so you can avoid his negative perspective and learn from his positive experience. Once you think in this way, staying calm becomes very normal for you and you even start enjoying being calm.

Yoga, also, is a very important thing that you can do if you want to be calm in every situation and take right decisions. Yoga or mediation opens your mind in all directions. It makes your mind so vast that you become capable of seeing that there are things to ignore and things to learn. It provides you the power to differentiate between these two things.

Your calmness can smartly break down arrogance. If you want yourself a different guy and beyond of rat race, then be calm, speak less and listen more.

  Speak less and listen more.
