There are certain times where you don’t have anything in your hands. The only thing that you can do in these circumstances is to hold yourself with a great level of patience and let the situation get over. And, this is the best way to deal with the situation, because if you don’t hold yourself and do whatever your mind wants to, it will only lead to worse circumstances.
Why it’s good to have patience during these times? Since you have only one option and that is just to wait, you will see after the situation is over, you have a lot more options, where you can easily implement your skills that you couldn’t do before. All those things will work now with great efficiency.
Examples of these situations
The best example of these kind of situations is nurturing a baby. When your baby is small enough not to understand anything, you have only this option; to hold yourself with a great level of patience. Because s/he will do things which are not appropriate such as breaking things which are important to you, not eating anything even when s/he is hungry. This happens when s/he is either angry or busy in playing something. But as soon as s/he is done with his thing, he will definitely listen to you given that you have held yourself till then.
Second instance can be of your workplace where you may have to do a lot more work than required. Here, you can either let your thoughts come out and make the situation even worse and convert your whole day into a bad day, or you can hold yourself and let the situation get over, let the day get over so that neither your day becomes bad nor your image.
There are several more examples of this. Like, fights with your partner where the reason, most of the times, is misunderstanding. During these fights you can’t do anything rather than having patience and letting the situation get over itself. One of the two must have the skill of keeping calm in these disputes, otherwise small things do not take time to get converted into big issues.
Learnings from these situations
You know, by doing this exercise of keeping calm and holding your patience you are going to become a great human being and improve your own mental well being which comes in play in every aspect of your life. It is not going to be easy because at the moment you start holding yourself, you start feeling irritated as you have held your feelings which want to come out but you have suppressed all of them. But, believe me, at the end you are all good and feel blessed that you did such a good thing to yourself.
But how can you learn this and from this? Because sometimes people follow things only externally, however in their inner being they are all the same as before. So to make a difference for yourself the one thing that you need to do here is realisation. When you held yourself and found good results at the end, you need to observe everything and realise this process. What actually happened here? What are the things that i did in this situation? What are the things that i could have done to worsen this situation? All these questions should come to your mind and then try to answer all of them by yourself. By doing so, you will see, next time, that your mind will not be able to overpower you, and you can easily implement the same thing again and again and again. This will slowly come in your behaviour and by the time someone says that you are such a patient man, you will not remember when this has been happened in your life.
